Someone commented that I was spending way too much time on this blogging business. It seemed ludicrous that I would find other people's thoughts so interesting and worse, comments left by others so fascinating as well; up to a point where I would sacrifice my sleep simply to catch up with the day's blogs. As I was putting forth my arguments (which was in fact turning into one rapidly as the other party refused to see the rationality of my standpoint), itoccured to me that I was justifying my preoccupation with blogs not only to the other party, but to myself as well.

To cut a long story short, I discovered some memes makes one think about one's self more deeply than others (most memes aren't so profound – mostly for a good laugh, and to see how creative one can be with answers to plain weird questions!) and this little gem of a meme was found browsing through a meme enthusiast's archives (so much for denying my fixation on blogs..). It seemed appropriate as these questions provides a platform for me to set forth my rationalisations. Nothing written is set in stone, of course, but it does serve to offer some kind of explanation on why I am so immersed in the world ofblogging..

1. Why and how did you start your blog?
I first started blogging about my children after I read this blog so lovingly and humourously written by a mother about her two children and their daily antics. She was so inspiring in her dedication to record down her children's childhood, that I could not help feeling motivated to do the same. Along the way, I discovered more blogs that were more varied in nature and was inspired to start another blog which is more personal, more about my thoughts, my feelings, my interests, my opinions, my values.

2. If you have a special nom de blog, how did you choose it?
I don't have a nom de blog. I see no need for a pseudonym. The blogging world is big enough to retain some semblance of obscurity and what I write is of no consequence to another until the need for anonymity is required.

3. How did you come up with the name for your blog?
I wanted a unique title that expresses my belief in freedom of speech and expression, hence the Latin title of "Suum Cuique" (pronounced su-um kwi-kwe) meaning 'to each his own'.

4. What things do you intend to blog about and why?
Things that mean nothing much to other people but are special to me. Like my views and opinions on things that happen; anecdotes and stories I am shy to share with people who know me; events and incidents that I'd like to remember in times to come; funny little memes, tags and blogthings that make me think a little bit more about myself…

To share a little bit of those moments of joy, wonder, delight…and of uncertainty, sorrow, despair and disappointment with whomever is out there reading…

Blah..blah..blah…actually to show off my excellent england, tell grandmother story and show off my pictures.. (phooey!! :P )

5. Are there subjects you’d like to blog about, but don’t, and if so, what is stopping you?
I will not blog about my private family matters as this will be akin to hanging dirty laundry in public. I will also not blog about personal matters of family and friends and things told in confidence to me as I hold sacred the confidence entrusted to me. And I will not blog about certain things and people who tick me off, because I don't want to be reminded of such negativity when I am in better spirits. Of course there will be rants and complaints, but these are mostly be over trivial matters which will cause me no discomfort read in retrospective.

6. How do you organize your blogroll/links?
I don't. I did remove some links which are unimportant to me just to tidy up and have less clutter around the side bar.

7. How do you feel about the design of your blog? Are there any changes you’d like to make to it?
The design is pretty classic and simple, very much like my philosophy in life.

8. How often do you post entries on your blog? Would you like to post more (or less) often?
Maybe once or twice a week…I think this is a good enough frequency for me, for now. Sometimes it takes a fair bit of time for me to articulate some of the thoughts and feelings I have inside and form them into coherent sentences. When that fails, I fall back to a surefire topic – food!

9. How often do you read and/or comment on other blogs? How do you find new blogs read?
There are a few blogs I visit quite regularly, on a daily or every other day basis. I have 17 blogs bookmarked but the ones I visit on a regular basis are only about 8. These bloggers always have something to share with their readers and because they always reply to comments, a friendship of sorts is built. And I find myself constantly returning to their blogs just to share a slice of their life.
Commenting-wise, that depends. Sometimes when I'm in a chatty chirpy mood, I can leave multiple comments within minutes. Other times, I'll just read and not comment as I'm not in the mood and/or don't feel I have anything worthwhile to say.
As for new blogs, I usually go for those whom I've seen commenting regularly at the same blogs I visit. I don't visit blogs at random as I prefer to read someone who is not a total stranger to me.

10.Have you done anything special to get others to read and/or comment on your blog?
I have not
totally opened my blog to public. Only to those who've asked. Generally, I don't leave a link on my comments unless I want that person to visit my blog. And these are usually people whom I visit on a regular basis.

Phew! All done! Not easy, I have not been using my brain the way it was intended for such a long time. To my dismay, I discovered that writing, along with many things, need a lot of practise and I've neglected writing for too long. I've been using colloquial English all this time and it has taken quite an effort to write in proper English again! I really should take this opportunity to brush up my English (anything to continue blogging in peace…)
